Over the weekend, I received this question from a Follower on Twitter:
Q: I want to lose 10 lbs. of post-break-up-fat but can’t focus on myself. So depressed … Any tips for kick-starting or setting specific goals?
DK: We’ve all been there and it’s rough but follow me and a few weeks from now, you’ll be saying: “Old lover, eat your heart out!”
1. Set a realistic goal and a target date. Envision the new you!
2. Commit yourself to the process. Don’t look at this as a “diet” -- you are embarking on a lifestyle change. This is as an opportunity to take back ownership of your life.
3. Block out time for exercise, ideally 30-60 min. per day or 10 minutes at the very least. Treat this as an honoring process. It’s your chance to unplug from the world and focus on you.
4. Clean out your pantry of all processed foods, sweets and other temptations. Load up on whole foods, protein and fiber.
5. On your path to eliminating negative emotions, it’s important to acknowledge them and take corrective action. Journal your thoughts and feelings, your energy level, what you’re eating, when you’re cheating and the time and intensity of your workout. Pay attention to those energy-draining situations and identify ways to circumvent them.
6. If possible, find a friend to do the program with you. A training partner is helpful in motivating and pushing you to your limits and beyond.
7. Believe in yourself. I BELIEVE IN YOU.
8. Remember, this is about empowering yourself to be all that you can be. Don't give anyone the power to take ownership of your life. Many of us, myself included, have dealt with the heartache of a breakup. Don't lose faith, don't lose focus. You can do it and I will be there for you…
